Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Troubleshoot and Repair
I am a retired HVAC tech offering to help with problems with residential and commercial furnaces, air conditioners, and refrigeration systems. My experience has been almost exclusively in service and repair. For the past 9 years I taught HVAC at an accredited vocational school.
If you are service tech, student or someone who is comfortable working with electricity, oil or gas, I offer this advice if you give me some vital info. I will need:
Type of equipment (gas furnace, boiler, etc)
Fuel (natural gas, propane, electric etc)
Manufacturer
Model number (usually found inside the appliance) or for outdoor units model plate is usually on the outside of the unit
Serial number
Approximate age
If you can include pictures and/or videos of the appliance they are of great help
Use the form below to send your message.
Disclaimer
HVAC equipment can be dangerous to work on.
The voltages used are lethal, the fuels highly flammable, the pressures are high and refrigerants can cause serious burns. Know the limits of your abilities and do not proceed if you are unsure.

How to use this site
This site is what I call an enhanced text book. It is intended as a teaching tool for HVAC techs. In addition to the normal text and pictures a number of videos are included. These videos often explain concepts that are almost impossible to put in text and pictures.
Use them as much as you need. If you do not understand any part of this text, use the blog. I am adding videos as soon as I can make them. If you are looking for something specific, use the search box. Troubleshooting sections are set up to start with basic symptoms, proceeding to more specific. Be absolutely sure of your readings before proceeding to the next step.
Design sections are training modules to help you understand the how and why of HVAC.
The library is an ever expanding list of service manuals for equipment and parts. This craft is a hands on and highly technical career. You are encouraged to find the parts I discuss and tear them apart and look for yourself.
My hope is that this site can further expand the service excellence this craft deserves.
